Catastrophe strikes on March 28, 2000: my apartment is flooded. The idiotic tenant above me decides, in the middle of the night, to unscrew his radiator because it is making noise. He doesn’t even realize that the flow and the heat will make it impossible to reassemble. The water was gushing into his apartment and below, into mine. As it’s the middle of the night, neither the concierge nor the union can be reached. So he leaves it flowing. I arrive in the early morning, because I had been working at a wedding where the dance floor closed at 5am. I called the firefighters and the police. A terrible mistake. The water is streaming out vertically from the double ceiling towards my shelves where I keep my precious negatives and slides. The police officer tries to interrupt me constantly while I am busy trying to save what can still be saved under the shelves. He wants to see my identity papers. I tell him to buzz off and he leaves! A firefighter arrives. As the water is pouring in vertically from above, the upper shelves somewhat protect those beneath them. I do my best, in complete darkness because the electricity has blown out due to the water, to transport the filing cabinets from the bottom shelves towards the kitchen where it is relatively dry. The firefighter shoves me aside to whack his axe into the double ceiling, and then, all the water that had accumulated burst out and flooded everything, including the cabinets which were still dry. I hate that firefighter! It is cold and dark. I am exhausted and depressed. My bed is drenched and I don’t have anywhere else to sleep. The next day, the idiot’s wife came to help me clear the mess. All of my precious negatives and slides from my work as a commercial photographer in England and in the US were ruined. I hadn’t yet had the time or the money to have them scanned. All I’ve got left are some personal photographs and cruise documents that I’ve already shown here. This is a rough blow for a photographer. 14 years later, it still hurts to think of what I’ve lost. Seeing as I don’t have the money to stay in a hotel and it wouldn’t be feasible to move all my photography and computer equipment during the works, I have no choice but to keep living in a delapidated and soggy apartment until 2009, nine horrible years. These days it’s far easier to save digital photos. I have a daily save system, Raid, as well as a set of two big external harddrives in a safe at the bank. My insurance, whose job it is to find reasons to not reimburse me when an accident happens, tells me that my negatives were professional and that I am only insured as a “private” individual! The only upside to the mess: the idiot’s wife, Angie, is a Vietnamese top model, who had recently arrived in France. She is a goddess and I got to make her Parisian portfolio. |

An ecclectic exposition that gives a good impression of this extraordinary photographer. | This photograph of Angie is a mosaic of 1848 images from my fashion photography. You can zoom in and move around in this panoramic of which the original takes up a hundred megabytes. Be patient, give it a little time to reload and become sharp again Zoomify lets you upload a very high-definition photo (here, 180 Mb) and to zoom in on it in parts. It is great but only really works with Flash so it can’t be opened all platforms, such as iPad and iPhone. You can zoom and move around in these high resolution photos (about 100Mb). Allow a little time for the preview to load and appear sharp. |

De 1986 et 1996 : Les emplois fictifs (30 millions de francs) : Le président de la République, Jacques Chirac, restera dans l'Histoire le premier chef d'État Français à avoir été condamné par la justice pour "détournement de fonds publics". Le 13 juin 1995, le président de la République Française, fraîchement élu, Jacques Chirac, en dépit de ses promesses électorales, annonce la reprise des essais nucléaires français dans le Pacifique. Là, j'ai compris que notre démocratie n'était pas au point. On vote certes démocratiquement, mais le président élu devrait être obligé de respecter ses engagements. Ou alors une démocratie comme en Suisse, tous les citoyens votent, via internet, pour toutes les lois.   |

Cela se voit surtout sur les photos "tapis rouge"     Au mouillage : Le S/S Norway, ex Paquebot France    Le coin presse  Marie Goujon. On shootait en diapositives, puis on les scannait  A gauche le scanner Kodak uniquement pour les accrédités Gala, Voici et autres "people".   Silence, on tourne  Kate Moss ou Laetitia Casta ?  Kate Moss ou Laetitia Casta ?  Les touristes guettent les entrées et sorties des stars.  C'est la fête !    Un paparazzi Les paparazzi, ou paparazzis, sont des photographes de presse qui ont pour domaine de prédilection la vie privée des célébrités pour la presse people : en France, Closer, Gala, Paris Match, Voici, etc. Leur objectif est de faire des photos indiscrètes de peoples qui soient des scoops publiés à la une. Bon, mais là il n'y a pas besoin de grimper dans les arbres.   Qui c'est qui arrive ? Personne, c'est juste une voiture vide !  On voit rien !   Plus près, c'est mieux  Encore plus près, c'est encore mieux  Vue du balcon du centre presse, c'est pas mal.  Là, c'est parfait, mais il n'y a aucune star !  Cool le balcon du coin presse.  Je repète : Comme j'ai dû, à cette époque, donner toutes mes meilleures diapositives au client, il ne me reste plus que les rejets. Cela se voit surtout sur les photos "tapis rouge" C'est le plus grand bénéfice du numérique: on peut garder ces meilleures photos ! On reconnait quand même John Travolta. Mais j'ai été couvert de bleus.  Kate Moss et Laetitia Casta. J'en oublie mes bleus !  Johny Hallyday et Laeticia, Mme Hallyday. Si Johny m'a souri !  Mon stand Studio Magazine.  Moi aussi, comme Martin Scorsese, j'ai mon fauteuil de directeur et mon fan club !  Il y a partout des jeunes actrices qui essaient d'attirer l'attention des directeurs de casting.  Les soirées sont incroyables. J'y ai rencontré Edouard Baer avant qu'il ne soit célèbre.   Il était tellement bourré qu'il m'a pris pour un fakir. Et j'étais aussi tellement bourré que je l'ai cru .  Placement de produits  C'est la fête !  Des journalistes du monde entier !  On s'informe déjà sur les truçages numériques  Du maquillage pour gangsters   Mais c'est juste du cinéma !  Studio Magazine fait sa pub, mais plutôt penchée !  C'est Godzilla !  Placement de produits  Le charme a opéré !  Le charme a opéré !  Protographe, c'est presque aussi bien que metteur en scène !  Hé oui, c'est la salle du Palais des Festivals    Trouver l'Alien !  Canal + a construit un stand sur la croisette  Pour jouer, entre autre, la musique du Grand Bleu.  Guillaume Durand et Jean-Marc Barr    Philippe Vandel   Le cinéma même sur la plage    J'ai un très dur métier !  Bon, ce n’est pas moi qui ai fait la photo. À cette époque, il fallait faire développer pour savoir si la photo est ratée ou pas  PPDA et les guignols de l'info en direct du festival.  On attend une très grande star     Jean Reno, né le 30 juillet 1948 à Casablanca (Maroc), est un acteur français d'origine espagnole. Découvert par Luc Besson qui lui permet d'accéder à la célébrité en lui offrant des rôles principaux dans Le Grand Bleu (1988), Nikita (1990) et Léon (1994), il connaît également une grande popularité grâce à la comédie de Jean-Marie Poiré, Les Visiteurs (1993), et ses suites. Il est l'un des rares acteurs français à faire une carrière importante aux États-Unis, tournant notamment dans French Kiss (1995) avec le tandem Meg Ryan / Kevin Kline, Mission impossible (1996) avec Tom Cruise, Godzilla (1998) avec Matthew Broderick, Ronin (1998) avec Robert De Niro, Da Vinci Code (2005) avec Tom Hanks ou encore La Panthère rose (2006) avec Steve Martin. Il fut notamment nommé trois fois au César du meilleur acteur.   |
Conclusion 1: I must not be bad, so that all these people trust me. Conclusion 2: Thanks to all these varied clients (industry, wedding, corporate and personal portraits, press, events, objects, medical, culinary, diving, sports, pageants, etc. ..), I see extraordinary slices of life, confidential or public, trades and fabulous countries. I do feel very privileged. Real life, live. Thank you customers. In rough estimation, I take 5,000 photos a week. 5,000 x 52 = 260,000 a year. For 35 years = 9,100,000 photos. Well, I would like to reach 10 million anyway! Conclusion 3: Photography is my language |
