I published a CD-ROM, a compilation of my photos: “600 photos pour rêver”
(600 photos to make you dream)

650 photos by Raphaël Christian Fournier, which can be viewed on any Macintosh computer in automatic slideshow thanks to the included Quickshow software (double-click on the icon, spacebar to pause, mouse-click to stop, tab for other settings) one by one: the photos are in PICT format, about 1Mo, 72DPI, 26x21cm, 740x600 pixels. For commercial use of these photographs, please contact Raphaël Christian Fournier for details.

Catastrophe strikes on March 28, 2000: my apartment is flooded. The idiotic tenant above me decides, in the middle of the night, to unscrew his radiator because it is making noise. He doesn’t even realize that the flow and the heat will make it impossible to reassemble. The water was gushing into his apartment and below, into mine.
As it’s the middle of the night, neither the concierge nor the union can be reached. So he leaves it flowing. I arrive in the early morning, because I had been working at a wedding where the dance floor closed at 5am. I called the firefighters and the police. A terrible mistake.
The water is streaming out vertically from the double ceiling towards my shelves where I keep my precious negatives and slides. The police officer tries to interrupt me constantly while I am busy trying to save what can still be saved under the shelves. He wants to see my identity papers. I tell him to buzz off and he leaves! A firefighter arrives. As the water is pouring in vertically from above, the upper shelves somewhat protect those beneath them. I do my best, in complete darkness because the electricity has blown out due to the water, to transport the filing cabinets from the bottom shelves towards the kitchen where it is relatively dry. The firefighter shoves me aside to whack his axe into the double ceiling, and then, all the water that had accumulated burst out and flooded everything, including the cabinets which were still dry. I hate that firefighter!
It is cold and dark. I am exhausted and depressed. My bed is drenched and I don’t have anywhere else to sleep. The next day, the idiot’s wife came to help me clear the mess.
All of my precious negatives and slides from my work as a commercial photographer in England and in the US were ruined. I hadn’t yet had the time or the money to have them scanned. All I’ve got left are some personal photographs and cruise documents that I’ve already shown here.
This is a rough blow for a photographer. 14 years later, it still hurts to think of what I’ve lost.
Seeing as I don’t have the money to stay in a hotel and it wouldn’t be feasible to move all my photography and computer equipment during the works, I have no choice but to keep living in a delapidated and soggy apartment until 2009, nine horrible years.
These days it’s far easier to save digital photos. I have a daily save system, Raid, as well as a set of two big external harddrives in a safe at the bank. My insurance, whose job it is to find reasons to not reimburse me when an accident happens, tells me that my negatives were professional and that I am only insured as a “private” individual!
The only upside to the mess: the idiot’s wife, Angie, is a Vietnamese top model, who had recently arrived in France. She is a goddess and I got to make her Parisian portfolio.

Dear Sir,
After the water damage I endured on March 28, 2000 (ref 2000ES7887/AL/AM), I immediately sent my letter accepting damages with proof of receipt for an immediate payment of 1194F and, after a successful appeal, another payment of 10990 F. Today, 6 months later, I still have not received the second payment of 10990 F. For your information, my neighbour above me underwent the same damage due to her neighbour, whose apartment is also above mine. The scenarios are identical: the same circumstances, the same people involved. The only difference is that she is insured by La MACIF and I am insured by Cabinet Noel/La Suisse. This neighbour received full damages by mid-June 2000. Here is her contact information : Laurence Peuvrez tel 01 47 07 44 68.
Thank you for your time and consideration. Christian Fournier.

Since the advent of digital photography, GPS, and the end of smoking in public spaces, my life has gotten a lot easier.

Press release
WARNING! Photographer at large.

From October 15th through the 31st, 1995, the Piano-bar of l’Hôtel exposed some of the most beautiful photos by Christian Fournier.
An ecclectic exposition that gives a good impression of this extraordinary photographer. For Raphaël Christian Fournier, “ To apply oneself to a single unique subject or style, is the key to success for many famous photographers but an attack to open-mindedness and creativity”.
Open-mindedness, freedom to create… could this be the secret behind this fascinating photographer?
Underwater landscapes, deserts, playmates, South American Indians, Jakarta… each subject is addressed in this new style showing the talent and boundless imagination of its author.
For Raphaël Christian Fournier, a photo is not an end in itself. He gives it his personal touch: painting on the slide or digital touch-ups offer him a varied palette of finishes that transform his photographs into works of art.

With the help of Anita, the talented graphics artist, I put on an exposition of my works at the Piano-bar of l’Hôtel in Saint Germain.

Here I am selling my photos at the Bièvres photo trade fair.

Here my work is exposed in a printers convention For Visual Arts.

I even exposed my photographs in my room.

I met and photographed Remy Poinot in 1999. Here he is at his rue de Montorgueil studio in Paris. Remy is another trailblazer for digital photography in France. He now lives in Neuilly-Plaisance.
But, well, digital photography in its infancy was quite bad. A far cry from my Hasselblad
.

Here is the aforementioned Angie, by Christian Fournier.
Thanks to Mostyk and Lucky for the make-up and to Kwon Young Hee for a part of the styling.

Body shaped by a loving god.
Here, Angie, top model in Vietnam.
Angie and my lighting are absolutely magnificent. What do you think?

Another version, just for the eyes.
At first you assume these are made by a big production team in a vast studio… then you realize it’s in my tiny studio in my small apartment.
Bravo Roch and Angie.

This photograph of Angie is a mosaic of 1848 images from my fashion photography.
You can zoom in and move around in this panoramic of which the original takes up a hundred megabytes.
Be patient, give it a little time to reload and become sharp again

Zoomify lets you upload a very high-definition photo (here, 180 Mb) and to zoom in on it in parts. It is great but only really works with Flash so it can’t be opened all platforms, such as iPad and iPhone.

You can zoom and move around in these high resolution photos (about 100Mb). Allow a little time for the preview to load and appear sharp.

HELLO, MY NAME IS CHRISTIAN FOURNIER. I AM A PHOTO-HOLIC

Prix d'interprétation masculine (à l'unanimité) : Peter Mullan pour My Name Is Joe
Caméra d'or : Slam de Marc Levin

Silence, on tourne

On voit rien !

On reconnait quand même John Travolta. Mais j'ai été couvert de bleus.

Kate Moss et Laetitia Casta. J'en oublie mes bleus !

Johny Hallyday et Laeticia, Mme Hallyday. Si Johny m'a souri !

Mon stand Studio Magazine.

Here are about 620 examples of my photographic event coverage since 1984, that is to say, 30 years. This is without counting those which my clients have requested that I do not show and photos that have been lost.

I know it's enormous.
No, I am not a photographic robot: my mother had me tested

This list begins with the compilations: Fashion & Models, Lingerie, Beauty, Makeup & Hair, Portraits, Events, Objects, Archi & Deco, Industry, Press, Celebrities, etc.

The sensors and web capabilities from 1995 to 2005 were horrible compared to now (2021). 40 KB max by images. My uploads at this time were therefore bad. I replace them little by little. It's long. Thank you for your indulgence.

Conclusion 1: I must not be bad, so that all these people trust me.
I have loyal customers, a sign that they are satisfied with my services. Examples: Tollens, MEDEF, Dior, GMF, Unesco, L'oréal, Anaé, Agefiph, Essilor, Genzyme, Embassy Ireland, The Advertisers Club, Garmin, VW, etc. ...

Conclusion 2: Thanks to all these varied clients (industry, wedding, corporate and personal portraits, press, events, objects, medical, culinary, diving, sports, pageants, etc. ..), I see extraordinary slices of life, confidential or public, trades and fabulous countries. I do feel very privileged. Real life, live. Thank you customers.

In rough estimation, I take 5,000 photos a week. 5,000 x 52 = 260,000 a year. For 35 years = 9,100,000 photos. Well, I would like to reach 10 million anyway!

Conclusion 3: Photography is my language

There is also a search command, not always up to date, but pretty comprehensive on all my reportages.
